Introduction

Welcome! JustFix (“Justfix” or the “Company”) is a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to assist tenants in exercising their rights to a livable home. We value the trust you have placed in us and our mission. Justfix is committed to protecting your privacy through our compliance with this privacy policy (the “Policy”) and all relevant laws and regulations that govern the Company.

This Policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the website Justfix.org (our “Website”). This Policy additionally governs any other affiliated products or websites such as WhoOwnsWhat, Letter of Complaint, Los Angeles Tenant Action Center, and any currently existing or future tool created or governed by the Company (collectively, the “Services”).  This Policy describes our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information when you visit our Website and/or use our Services. Further, this Policy discloses your rights and ways of contacting the Company to exercise those rights.

Information Collected:

By accessing, viewing, visiting, or otherwise interacting with the Website and/or the Services, you agree to the following:

  • Information may be collected automatically including usage details, IP addresses, and cookies which helps the Company to manage your session with our Website.

  • You may be prompted to provide your name, email, postal address, zip code, phone number, or other personally identifiable information (“PII”).  By entering this information, you explicitly consent to the Company’s use of your PII, including for use in aggregate information for research purposes of other users on the Website. 

  • Additional information may be collected such as the features of your browsing and the time spent on a given portion of the Website. We may collect specific information about your device, including the device type, model, mobile carrier, operating system, and preferred language. 

  • The retention of records or copies of your correspondence if you contact us directly.

  • We may aggregate, anonymize, and/or de-identify the information described above for purposing of sharing that data with third parties or publishing the aforementioned data. This data would no longer be considered PII due to its anonymization process. This data may be used to assist the Company in improving the Website experience. 

Use of Your Information:

We use information that we collect about you or that you or third-parties provide to us, including any personal information:

  • To present our Website and Services to you in an ascertainable manner.

  • To provide you with information, products, or services that you request from us.

  • To provide you with notices about your account, including lack of use and subsequent deletion of data.

  • To notify you about changes to our Website and/or Services that the Company provides.

  • To enable us to display advertisements to our advertisers' target audiences even though we do not disclose your personal information for these purposes.

  • Any information collected will be retained in accordance with applicable laws. After a period of inactivity, a User may receive an email regarding potential deactivation of a User’s account. The user must affirmatively email the Company in order to ensure retention of their account. Otherwise, their account will be deactivated.

We may disclose aggregated information about our users. We may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide as described in this Policy to the following parties:

  • To our subsidiaries and affiliates.

  • To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.

  • To third parties to market their products or services to you. We contractually require these third parties to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.

  • To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it.

  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.

  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company.

Third-Party Use of Tracking Technologies

Some content or applications, including advertisements, on the Website are served by third-parties, including advertisers, content providers, and application providers. These third parties may use cookies, web beacons, or other tracking technologies to collect information about you when you use our website. The information they collect may be associated with your personal information or they may collect information, including personal information, about your online activities across different websites and other online services. They may use this information to provide you with target advertising content.

We do not control these third parties' tracking technologies or how they may be used. If you have any questions about an advertisement or other targeted content, you should contact the responsible provider directly. 

Notice and Choice on the Use and Collection of Your Information

The Company strives to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information: 

  • Tracking Technologies and Advertising. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this site may then be inaccessible or not function properly.

  • Disclosure of Your Information for Third-Party Advertising. At this time, the Company does not participate in Third-Party advertising. 

  • Targeted Advertising. At this time, the Company does not participate in Targeted Advertising. 

Rights Regarding Your Information

You can request some or all of the personal information collected by the Company. You may do this by sending us an email at support@justfix.org. Further, you may contact us at this same email address to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

Privacy of Children 

The Website and affiliated Services are not intended for users under the age of 13 without parental guidance and active supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users under the age of 13. If you are under the age of 13, do not use or provide any personal information on this Website or affiliated Services.  If you suspect an individual under the age of 13 is accessing our Website or Services please contact us at support@justfix.org. If any information from a user under the age of 13 is collected due to their use of the website and the Company is made aware of such an incident, then any collected information will be promptly deleted. 

Specific State Resident Privacy Rights

The California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Acts (“CPRA”), (collectively, as amended, “CCPA”), provide California residents with specific rights in relation to their personal information. In addition to CCPA, California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code Section § 1798.83) permits users of our Website and/or Services who are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Non-US Resident Privacy Rights

This Website and its Services are intended for use by citizens, residents, and individuals of the United States. The Website and its Services are not intended for access, use, or distribution outside of the United States and may not protect privacy rights specific to your country of residence. By accessing and/or utilizing this Website or Services you represent and warrant that you are a resident, citizen, or individual of the United States. Any representation to the contrary would be outside of this Policy and the Company’s Terms of Use.

Security of Your Information

The retention of information refers to the collection, storage, and management of data. All retained personal information will remain subject to the terms of this Policy.

The Company may retain information for the length of time necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by applicable law or regulations. The Company may also retain information to resolve disputes, enforce our legal agreements and policies, and if required to do so by law or regulations that are currently in effect or will become in effect after the publication of this Privacy Policy.  

The Company takes their responsibility to protect the security, integrity, and confidentiality of information very seriously. The Company uses reasonable technical, administrative, and physical security measures to protect information from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, and destruction. The Company regularly reviews its security procedures to determine whether the implementation of new technology and methods is feasible and appropriate for safeguarding information.  

Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Company cannot ensure or warrant the security of information. In the event that any information under the Company’s control is compromised as a result of a breach of security, the Company will take reasonable steps to investigate the matter and notify users of the security incident in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.  

Change of Control

In the event that the Company experiences a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of assets, whether as a going concern or as a part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding you consent that your information is among the assets transferred.

Adjustments to our Privacy Policy

By accessing, viewing, visiting, or otherwise interacting with the Website and/or the Services, you agree to this Policy. This Policy may change to meet the Company’s needs and certain legal requirements. The continued use of the Website and/or the Services after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of said change. Please check the policy periodically for updates. The last modified date at the top of this Policy will denote the last update to the Policy.
